Hockey is back home in Margaret River with a new synthetic training turf fully funded and planned to be completed by next season.
The recent announcement of the final stage of funding for the project will see players of all ages take to the home turf for next season, instead of travelling to Busselton each week.
To kick off the local program, training for this season will now be held at the lower Western Pavilion oval at Gloucester Park.
In an exciting change for the Margaret River Hockey Club, all teams will now train in Margaret River on Tuesdays at the recently upgraded Lower Western Oval (sharing the grass for the short term with soccer and rugby clubs.
Registrations have opened for all age groups and abilities from Pre Primary to girls and boys aged under 10, for a short introductory programme.
Groups and divisions continue right the way up through all age groups from juniors, seniors and masters.
The club is actively seeking new players in all divisions, especially juniors, and will hold a muster, club social and fundraising event on Sunday March 8th from 10am to 3pm at the Gloucester Park, Western Pavilion Oval.
"Even if you've never picked up a hockey stick but just want to give it a go, come on down and have some fun learning a new sport and making new friends in a positive, social environment," said committee member Cilla Bevan.
"We want to encourage more people to join up especially now that training has come home to Margaret River."
Kidsport vouchers and family discounts are available and registration is easy via www.margaretriverhockey.org.au and includes a separate compulsory Hockey WA payment.
Merchandise including socks, hoodies and beanies are also now available to order.

Preseason has begun with beach sessions for the whole club on Thursday nights at Redgate Beach on Thursdays from 6.15pm for approx. 40 minutes.
Training for seniors and Year 9-12s starts next Tuesday 6.00 pm -7.00pm . On March 10th Pres-season training for the mixed years 3-5 team will start from 4-5pm, years 6-8s from 5pm to 6pm.
Anyone who has purchased new hockey gear and is no longer using their older kit including sticks is encouraged to bring along to the Club Social and Fundraising Day on 8th March or to training to pass it on to a new comer.
The Club's annual Scarred For Life match will take place at 10am on Sunday March 18 at the Western Pavillion.
