MOTOR car racing is returning with the North East's Winton Raceway to host a Supercars round in July.
Supercars chiefs announced on Sunday they would be resuming racing after having to halt the season in March to coronavirus.
Winton will have the second round of the rejigged season, hosting events on July 18-19.
It is yet to be decided whether there will be crowds at Winton, with Benalla Auto Club chief executive Chris Lewis-Williams saying that may not be known until two weeks before the event.
"What I think will happen, if crowds are allowed, tickets will be limited and you will have to have prebooked, it can't be a free-for-all," Mr Lewis-Williams said.
It is also uncertain whether racing teams will camp on-site, be accommodated nearby or drive in from their company bases each day.
"Even if it's TV only it's still great Winton gets to have an event, rather than not."
Winton was to host its round from June 5 to 7 under the original calendar, with an overall crowd of 70,000 anticipated.
The Benalla Auto Club was to bear the commercial risk in hosting the round in conjunction with the Victorian government and sponsor Truck Assist.
However, Supercars is now the promoter for the meet and taken on the liability.
The first round to be held will be at Sydney Motorsport Park from June 27 to 28.
The Bathurst 1000 will be held on October 8 to 11, however street circuit events normally held in Newcastle and on the Gold Coast have been cancelled for this year.
Supercars chief executive Sean Seamer said the Sydney event would definitely be crowd-free, with discussions to be held over allowing spectators to attend the other rounds.
"We will continually assess the possibility of admitting fans to events based on the direction of government restrictions, including how we might be able to accommodate camping and park and view," Mr Seamer said.
The exact format for racing at Winton is still to be determined.
