Strings Attached: The West Australian Guitar Festival 2020 has joined a swathe of major events affected by COVID-19 in what has been a crippling year for the entertainment industry.
In a statement released on Monday, it was revealed the festival's managing board made a difficult decision earlier in the month to postpone the 2020 festival, pending the carry-over of secured funding to 2021, which was confirmed last week.
Festival organisers enjoyed a successful inaugural event in 2019, with almost 8000 attendees over 3 days taking in more than 100 events across 22 venues, including exhibitions, masterclasses, performances and Q&A sessions.
Festival director and musician Dan White said the event team was adamant the long term quality and the success of Strings Attached would not be compromised by current world events.
"Significant local and global changes due to COVID-19 made the difficult task of not only running a successful event in uncertain times, but also in continuing to deliver increased value and quality year on year, virtually impossible.
"As a result, the tough decision was made to postpone Strings Attached: The West Australian Guitar Festival 2020 and focus on bringing a bigger and better festival to the Margaret River region in 2021.
"The event team would like to extend their gratitude for the immense support seen from all in 2019 - exhibitors, artists, ticket holders, corporate and government partners, volunteers, the Margaret River community and wider global community of music lovers - and look forward to seeing you all again in 2021."
Strings Attached: The West Australian Guitar Festival 2021 will take place in Margaret River 8-10 October, 2021.
