Rugby Union re-emerged in the South West after lockdown on the weekend with last years finalists Margaret River and Dunsborough battling it out on the brand new pitch on the Lower Western Fields.
Reigning Premiers Margaret River, were looking to continue their amazing decade of success, and christen their new home ground with a victory over their arch nemesis.
Once again a plethora of backs forced the Gropers to stack the forward pack with veteran backs to fill the gap.
Resembling a Grandmother's thrown together meatloaf they nonetheless bolted out of the blocks like a bat out of hell.
Utilising their superior backline they began to spread the ball faster than COVID-19.
Dunsborough's defence consisted of face masks that were completely inept, and they obviously didn't realise that social distancing wasn't required for the contact sport. Margaret River romped home to squash the Dungbeetles 6 tries nil.
The next game will be played against a youthful Bunbury side at Hay Park. The season has been shortened, but is no less exciting with the inclusion of a second Bunbury team, The Barbarians.
Despite years of playing in the Perth competition (they felt the competition too weak in the South West), they will have to avenge the one and only game played, a 45 point humiliation Margaret River handed to them 5 years ago on their own turf.
The Gropers train on Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 5:45pm on the Lower Western Fields, Gloucester Park.
