Talented singer and songwriter Maya Ixchell is about to launch her latest single Hurt Me on August 14, 2020.
It will be the second song the former Busselton Senior High School student has released following on from her 2018 debut Forever Ends Here.
Her latest song Hurt Me was motivated by dealing with the consequences of a time when a person you loved hurt you.
"I found a lot of songs were about getting hurt and breaking up, so I wrote a song about getting hurt, accepting that and moving past it," she said.
"It's a sad acceptance that hurt does come with life and love, and that you have to be able to move forward and forgive.
"It's very important to me in a sense because it has become very common nowadays for arguments and hurt to lead to breakups and friendships ending etc.
"But this song is my anthem to myself and hopefully others that although it hurts, life will go on as things can be fixed just as easily as they were broken."
Maya has recorded a third single Wanna Write You A Love Song, which is yet to be released. The song started out as a quirky little tune and ended up being a full production taking it to a whole new level beyond what she imagined.
"It went from a basic song to this big thing," she said.
She recorded the song with James Newhouse at Lamb Chop studio in Bunbury.
"I just played this little song I had come up with and sang along, then we just dove into it and added bits and pieces," she said.
"James had so many ideas that were over my head.
"I had the structure in my song and we just made it completely different by changing notes and chords and things, it is basically a completely different song now."
Maya said it was strange to go into a studio with something and leave with a song that was completely different.
"It is crazy, all this stuff happens to your song, and what James does to a song always sounds really awesome," she said.
"It does feel like a baby, I say here you go, you can handle it for a little bit."

Maya said the process of recording and releasing her new single has been exciting and she was posting lots on social media to "pump up" her fans.
"I was a bit inexperienced when I released my first song, I have done a bit of research this time and know more about how to market it," she said.
"It has worked so much better and I have gained more of a following through Facebook which has increased my following on other platforms."
Since coronavirus restrictions were eased in Western Australia, Maya has been back on stage playing live gigs around the South West.
"I was fortunate to have a nine-to-five job which kept me going - but I did miss playing live music - it is my favourite thing to do."
Maya Ixchell's single Hurt Me will be available on Apple Music, Spotify and iTunes from August 14, 2020.
