With the weather getting colder and the wind and wave reports not looking good it seems that a large majority of the locals have headed north to chase the sun, surf, fishing, diving and adventure.
If you can't beat them join them - I say!
We have just returned from an 18 day stint in Exmouth and what a brilliant time we had.
The fishing was absolutely epic, the weather was joy and the company we kept wasn't bad either.
On the first day we headed out from Tantabiddi we managed to pick up a couple of yellow fin tuna and on the way home in about 8 metres of water we got a good size Macky.

On the first day we headed out from Tantabiddi we managed to pick up a couple of yellow fin tuna and on the way home in about 8 metres of water we got a good size Macky.
The second day out the story was different - this time we bottom bounced and picked up nice size gold band snapper, some red throat and a robbo sea bream.
The story goes on and on with the same each day, water was flat, fish were plentiful and the sun was shining.
Out on the ocean we saw a plethora of sea life too, whales were a plenty, sea snakes, turtles, dolphins, and of course the men in grey (sharks) were something most days we could have done without.
The new sun shelter from Outdoor Adventures (in stock now at DSC&O) worked a treat - even if Steve was unhappy about me putting it up on a windy day - let's say lycra stands the test of Exmouth wind very well.
We would advise that you all take a Yeti drink bottle up there or for those who like the odd beer, the Yeti stubby holder - definitely keeps your drinks cold ALL day in the heat up there.
If you are up for a bit of action whilst up that way - head to Coral Bay and go out on the dune buggy tours - our son Jesse is working for the company and it was a fun, adventure packed 2.5 hours for all ages (don't forget your snorkel gear and sunscreen).
Please remember when heading north to have all your 4WD gear, safety equipment on boats and take care on the roads as well as the water.
In the short time we were up there, we witnessed a car and caravan roll over right in front of us, found an upturned boat heading out in the passage one day and also broke the windscreen on the boat (rock) on the way home.
Just in case anyone out there wants to sledge Steve for not catching fish - he definitely did catch fish - he just wasn't keen to get a picture with them!
Until next month, happy fishing and diving!
