Congestion and safety on the outer edges of Margaret River continues to cause concern for residents and road users as traffic begins to build over the school holidays.
Resident Melina Maro approached the Shire last week over the speed limit on Bussell Highway between John Archibald Drive and Brookfield Drive, saying she was worried about the "difficult and unsafe" road situation.
"Conditions are rapidly worsening due to the growth in population within the suburb and number of people entering to drop off and pick up their school children," Ms Maro said.
"I do not believe that the school is even near its capacity yet."
Ms Maro said turning out of Rapids Landing was dangerous due to vehicles approaching over the crest of a hill at 80km/h.
"From my right I was having to assess whether cars from the North would be travelling straight or turning into Tonkin Boulevard, sometimes without adequate indication.
"I asked myself why a decision had been made to place the speed increase from 60km/h heading out of town to 80km/h just before entries to two major subdivisions rather than after them?
"This is proving even less sensible now that Rapids Landing - with only one entry/exit point - is experiencing higher traffic volumes."
In September, the Mail reported that residents were growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of access roads into the Rapids Landing subdivision, causing major delays and fears of danger to residents in the event of a bushfire evacuation.
Ms Maro posed her question online and received plenty of feedback with many residents echoing her concerns, while some said changing the current limit would add to the congestion as vehicles would be moving through the area at a slower speed.
"Many expressed a 'yes' or were otherwise in agreement with the proposal to shift the speed limit change further South to give cars exiting Tonkin Highway greater gaps to pull out safely," Ms Maro said.
The Shire told the Mail this week that it would seek a review of the speed limit in the area.
"The Shire has undertaken traffic counts around these intersections in preparation of a submission to Main Roads WA to review the speed limit in this area," Director Sustainable Development and Infrastructure Nick Logan said.
