Rio Tinto is recruiting women living in regional WA into traineeship roles to create a pathway for females into the mining industry.
The traineeships on offer run for a period of 12 months and applicants do not require any qualifications or previous experience to be successful.
This rare opportunity maybe suitable for women who are looking for a career change, or an opportunity to enter the mining industry, or for people who lost their job through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The types of traineeships on offer include drill and blast operators, dewatering, water cart operators, multi-skilled operators, fixed plant laboratory roles, tool store, mobile equipment and maintenance, service persons and live vehicles.
Rio Tinto superintendent community engagement Justin Francesconi said they were offering the roles to women as part of their COVID-19 relief initiative.
"We are providing employment opportunities for women into the mining sector," he said.
"The traineeship focus is on women who might not have a mining background, which will provide a pathway for them into the industry.
"The fly-in-fly-out traineeships will be from one of Rio Tinto's regional hubs such as Busselton, Albany, Broome, Derby and Geraldton to the Pilbara."
