While the 2020 football season was like the year itself - different - the NTFA Shield was a success, according to director of women's football Louise Millwood.
Bridgenorth, Meander Valley, Old Launcestonians and Scottsdale took part in the modified season, while the other half of the inaugural 2019 roster's participants Evandale, George Town, Old Scotch and South Launceston didn't field a side.
"I think it was a good community, it engaged the girls back into the sport and it opened it up to other people, so I think it was a good platform for this year ," she said.
"It's actually been club building as it's forced people to look back into their clubs, they weren't allowed to go away from the communities this year.
"The challenge has built clubs, it's been an opportunity to expand as people haven't been there for some time."
Deloraine, Hillwood and Longford will enter the women's competition in 2021.
