The Margaret River Wine Association has announced the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award and Excellence Awards finalists who will be presented with Langton's Margaret River Wine Show Trophies at Leeuwin Estate tonight.
The 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Dorham Mann OAM for his critical role in helping the early pioneers in Margaret River.
Dorham helped many with their site selections and early plantings; Sandalford and Cape Mentelle being two examples.
The finalists in each of the Excellence Awards categories are:
Viticultural Excellence Award - Mike Gray - AHA Viticulture; Dave Moulton - Cape Mentelle.
Wine Tourism Excellence Award - Ashlee Heard - Evans & Tate; Paris Hoskin - Arlewood Estate; Grace Pigram - Vasse Felix.
The Langton's Margaret River Wine Show judging will take place next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Margaret River HEART, where 104 exhibitors will compete with their 656 submitted Margaret River wines to be assessed.
This year a new trophy design by local Busselton artist, Tammy Scott of Heartwood Timber Designs will be presented.
Scott's pieces pay tribute to the South West coastline through the use of blue tinted resin paired with local burl timbers including Jarrah, Peppermint, Tuart and Acacia.
The show will welcome four new partners, City of Busselton, Margaret River Wagyu, Hahn Corporation and Anton Paar Australia, to sponsor a trophy for the first time.
