A classical Christmas concert will be held under the stars on the lawns of Happs Wines from 5.30pm December 19, 2020.
Performed by a piano quintet the event will feature Christmas carols, jazz classics and standard classical music to bring festive cheer in the holiday season.
Led by composer and violist Jared Yap the quintet includes a pianist, two violinists, a viola and a cellist who will play jazzy Christmas songs.
"We will also play some other fun pieces of music that you would hear, similar to the BBC Proms and pieces that are too corny and schmaltzy to be played at any other time of the year," Mr Yap said.
"It is a time for celebration and we kind of all really want to play the music, which is really fun and well written, the songs are fun to play.
"There is a lot of communication between all the different parts, you really feel like you are having a conversation with your friends on stage.
"That is why people enjoy watching live music because you can see that conversational element, people having fun with each other or playing different roles on stage.
"The more cornier and schmaltzier pieces do that in an obvious way, which is why people find it a bit corny but also love it.
"We will also play a standard repertoire and more serious pieces as well."
Mr Yap said the members of the quintet all knew each other from studying at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne.
"We would have all been there at this time of year but most of us have been here in WA [because of the COVID-19 pandemic]" he said.
"We do a lot of concerts like this throughout the year, we are not an ensemble and it is not generally the way people perform concerts these days."
The event will feature an hour of music and attendees will be able to take along a picnic and enjoy a glass of wine while the sun sets.
Tickets to the event are $30 for adults and $15 for children, and can be purchased from happs.com.au/pages/events (children aged under three years are free).
