The ban, which many believe was well overdue, came not long after Trump made public his plans to skip President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration.

Across the sea, the United Kingdom reached a tragic milestone this week, reporting its highest daily deaths of COVID-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic.
The UK reported 1325 new deaths from COVID-19, eclipsing the previous record number of deaths reported in April of 1224.
The record day came after London declared a major incident on Friday because its hospitals were at risk of being overwhelmed by a highly transmissible variant of the virus.
Back home, a tragic accident in Tasmania has resulted in the death of an 11-year-old from Victoria this week. The girl fell 10 metres from a cliff while holidaying near Hobart with her siblings.
Federal Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese was discharged from in hospital this afternoon after being hurt in a car crash in Sydney's inner west.
And three people have been fined for refusing to wear masks in Queensland on Friday night, after the state introduced its first mandatory order to wear them.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the response had been fantastic with most people wearing masks.
"Please continue to wear your mask if you are in the Greater Brisbane region. Please, everyone, stay strong and stay calm," Ms Palaszczuk said.
