Preserve Gnarabup supporters joined campaigns around the State on Saturday to call on Premier Mark McGowan to protect areas of special value to the people of Western Australia.
Organiser Sasha Pol said around 150 people turned out at Rotary Park in Margaret River on Saturday morning to send a message to the McGowan Government to halt the development of the Gnarabup headland.
"We joined other community groups around WA for the state-wide #StoptheDamagePremier day of action," Ms Pol explained.
"The Preserve Gnarabup campaign was joined by Nannas for Forests members at Rotary Park in Margaret River.
"Other groups joined the protest around the State, including Save Perth Hills, Save Ocean Reef, Save our Suburbs, Save Robinson Road, Save Trigg Park, Save Glen Iris Golf course, Save Quarry Park, Save Subiaco Oval, Save the Black Cockatoos, Save Nedlands, Save Cottesloe, Save Midland Oval, and many others.
"While the Premier is very popular, we urge him to pay attention to ordinary Western Australians who are trying to protect areas that make WA special.
"Listen to the people, not the property developers seeking big profits!"
The Preserve Gnarabup group is calling on the to stop development at the Gnarabup headland and protect what they say is Margaret River's "most valuable tourism and community asset".
"Preserve Gnarabup is not anti-development.
"We are anti-development of this important land that is already highly used by the community and the local tourism industry."
