Residents, staff and members of Castle's Legacy gathered at Baptistcare Mirrambeena in Margaret River last week to mark the final ever donation from the Castle's Legacy fund.
More than 40 knee rugs were donated to the Mirrambeena residents, ensuring everyone has a warm start to the winter months.
Castle's Legacy was created by Bob and Kath Castle to assist locals with financial support and emergency care. In the 1990s, the couple made a generous donation to kickstart the construction of the Mirambeena aged care facility and have spent tireless decades working to support locals.
Through their garage sales, they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and the venture soon outgrew their own home, moving to the Lions Shed to become the now hugely popular Lions Mega Garage Sales.
Bob and Kath Castle sold off the last of their locally made jams and preserves at their ever-present jam stand in February 2019. Mr Castle sold hundreds of jars of preserves - made with love by Kath - each week for 17 years, with funds raised going directly to local causes.
Mr Castle is a familiar figure to residents and visitors thanks to his presence on Wallcliffe Road, manning the pedestrian crossing mornings and afternoons.
