A man who arrived at Perth Airport on June 23 from Victoria has been apprehended by police after failing to comply with self-quarantine directions.
The 49-year-old was directed to self-quarantine for 14 days at a suitable premises, and when police conducted a check on June 24, it will be alleged the accused was not present.
Inquiries were conducted and the man was subsequently arrested in Fremantle later that day.
It is further alleged that the man conducted a motivational speech in Rockingham on June 23 and planned to conduct further speeches in Fremantle on June 24-25.
Further inquiries conducted revealed that the man allegedly provided false information about where he had been in the previous 14-day period prior to entering WA.
Police will allege the man had been in New South Wales and Queensland in the 14 days prior to his arrival.
The man from Victoria has been charged with:
- Two counts of Failed to comply with a direction and;
- One count of Gave false or misleading information.
He was denied bail and has been remanded in custody to next appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on July 23.
