Roddy claims South West golf championship

The tournament was attended by 87 players from 13 different golf clubs in the South West region.

Margaret River Golf Club General Manager Brendan Evans said the championships were a great display of collaboration between clubs.

"Despite the lead in weather creating some challenging problems on the golf course the two days of play, whilst cold and windy, were remarkably rain free, and the full 36 holes were played," Mr Evans said.

"The course held up well and the strong winds certainly assisted this."

Players and members of the South West committee complimented the Margaret River course, which has previously been voted the best regional course in WA.

"It was a marvellous effort from Bryce, Eli and their team of grounds staff," Mr Evans said.

"Margaret River had ten players participating in the championships and I am delighted to be able to acknowledge the outstanding performance of Sarah Roddy.

"Sarah was the Championship winner, playing off a 5 handicap, blitzing the field by 13 shots with rounds of 77 and 81.

"She was also winner of the Champion of Champions and the Open section of the event, and add to this winning the 36 Hole Nett Runner Up."

Mr Evans thanked the club members and volunteers for the efforts in making the event a success.

"The MRGC community came together to provide the infrastructure necessary to host an event of this size and nature."
