Just as they did in Rio five years ago, the grandparents who stole Aussie hearts watched on today as Kyle Chalmers swam his way to another Olympic medal.
Chalmers, who shocked the world with gold in the same event at Rio, paid tribute to his support crew after finishing an agonising six-hundredths of a second away from gold.
His grandparents Malcolm and Julue Bagnell watched from their Port Lincoln home.
Mr Bagnell said the swim was "bloody amazing" and they were both very proud grandparents.
"I had a tingling sensation going through my body, I felt like I was swimming with him," he said. "I said 'if he can get a medal and bring the medal back for us in Australia, how wonderful would that be?'
"We are so very proud of him."

Chalmers himself told Channel 7 after the race it was a bit more challenging swimming from the outside lanes but he gave it his all in the final.
"I did everything in my absolute power to win, obviously life is not always about winning but it is nice and I executed the race well and I felt strong and felt good," he said.
He said he was grateful for all the support and particularly was inspired by footage in 2016 of his grandparents' emotional reaction to his win in Rio.
The silver medal brings Chalmers medal haul to three, following his bronze medal wins as part of Australia's 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x200m freestyle relay teams.
