NSW has recorded daily high of 1542 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24-hour reporting period and a further nine deaths.
Of the 1,542 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 506 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD)
- 402 are from Western Sydney
- 199 are from Sydney
- 134 are from South Eastern Sydney
- 88 are from Nepean Blue Mountains
- 38 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven
- 30 are from Northern Sydney
- 28 are from Western NSW
- 26 are from Central Coast
- 13 are from Hunter New England
- five are from Far West
- three are from Southern NSW
- 49 are in correctional settings and 21 cases are yet to be assigned.
The state has recorded 162 COVID-related deaths in NSW since June 16 and all up 218 since the start of the pandemic.
The number of COVID patients in hospital has reached 1156, including 207 in intensive care and 89 on ventilators.
Some "tweaks" have been made to the slight easing of rules around outdoor recreation for the fully vaccinated, due to come into force on Monday.
In local government areas of concern, people who are fully vaccinated in a household may now gather for two hours for outdoor recreation, in addition to exercise.
Children aged under 12 will not be included in the five-person cap for outdoor gatherings of fully vaccinated people outside of these areas.
Seventy six point four per cent of adults have had their first dose and 43.6 are fully vaccinated.
"As the modelling we released indicated we are expecting the peak number of cases to happen in the next week or so. So far this trajectory is what has been predicted," Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.
Meanwhile large swathes of regional NSW will have lockdown rules lifted at midnight.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro announced yesterday that all LGAs with zero cases would be free of stay-at-home orders from 12:01am on Saturday.
Thirty-eight NSW LGAs plus Greater Sydney will stay in lockdown, but the areas freed from stay-at-home orders will still be subject to restrictions. The areas still in lockdown can be found here.

Victoria has recorded 334 new locally-acquired COVID-19 cases and one death, as lockdown lifts for most of the state's regions.
The health department on Friday confirmed 149 cases were linked to known outbreaks, with the source of the remaining 185 under investigation.
There were no details on the death, the state's fourth due to the latest outbreak.
It brings the total number of active cases in the state to 2426.
