A Margaret River area business owner has collected a major prize in a national competition aimed at tradespeople shopping at Mitre 10 hardware stores around the country.
Offered through the Mitre 10 Trade Centre, the competition gave entrants a chance to take home the grand prize of a brand new Mazda BT-50 vehicle, or one of 21 trailers filled with Makita, Passlode and Sutton tools.
With every $500 Ben Lawrie spent at the store through his business, Caves Road Constructions, he was able to submit another entry.
He was then announced the only local winner of a major prize.
"We're a small boutique construction company based out of Cowaramup, and we work from Busselton, Yallingup and down to Augusta," Mr Lawrie told the Mail.
"We're building mainly architectural residential stuff, and some commercial," he said.
"The trailer is going to be really helpful... we might have to offload some of it to the apprentices.
"There's a bit of jealousy going on. I think they're already eyeing off some of it."
Store manager Paul Brown said the team was excited to hear that a well known, loyal customer had taken out the prize.
"It's great news for Ben and for the store, we're all very happy to have someone from this part of the world claim one of these fantastic prizes."
