'There's a car in my bedroom': Margaret River woman's close call

The 21 year old woman, who did not wish to be identified, said she was sleeping peacefully in her home on Blackbutt Trail when she was woken by a loud crash at 2.09am.

"I was having a really, really good sleep," she told the Mail.

"It was so loud, my first thought was that we were having an earthquake, but then I saw the headlights and realised it was a car."

The woman was showered in glass and bricks and said she had bruising and cuts to her face and left side of her body.

"I was just frozen in bed, screaming so loudly," the shaken young woman said.

"I was like... there's a car... in my bedroom?!

"My housemate came running in and she had to help me off the bed, I was just frozen and couldn't move."

In a state of shock, the resident rushed to locate her cat, which was fortunately safe in another part of the house.

Hearing the commotion, neighbours were quick to call police who attended along with St John Ambulance officers who treated the residents for shock.

A police spokesperson said by the time officers had arrived, the vehicle had left the scene.

"Police located the suspect vehicle shortly after and inquiries into the crash are continuing," the spokesperson said.

A neighbour who witnessed the incident told the Mail the vehicle reversed out of the bedroom and was driven to another location nearby.

The shocked resident is counting herself lucky after the close call.

"It's not something I would have ever thought would happen to me, it's something you see on the news," she said.

"We would also ask for some understanding, there has been a lot of people visiting the area and we really need some privacy right now, that would be appreciated.

"There's a lot of damage, I'm not sure what we'll do but at the moment I'm just feeling so, so lucky."
