The good news just keeps on coming for the Margaret River Little Athletics Club (MRLAC), with the recent announcement that the club has been successful in receiving a grant worth $4400 from Coles Supermarkets.
"We are overjoyed as this grant enables us to update essential equipment and increase supply to cater for an expected increase in member numbers for this coming season," said club spokesperson Kim Turnbull.
"The committee is dedicated and working hard to ensure little athletics in Margaret River can reach its full potential so our kids can thrive.
"The new MRLAC committee has been exploring avenues in which to raise funds for the club and applied for the Coles grant along with many other clubs."
More than 100 Little Athletics centres across Australia have jumped funding hurdles thanks to the Coles program to fund vital sports equipment like hurdles, high jumps, discus and shot puts.
In addition to providing more than $2 million in equipment grants, Coles has donated more than 3.6 million bananas to Little Athletics centres since 2017.
Coles Little Athletics Australia President Andrew Pryor said the grants would help Little Athletics centres to develop the next generation of Olympians as the sport builds towards Brisbane 2032.
"We are entering a very exciting period for Little Athletics following the success of Tokyo 2020 and as we set our sights on Brisbane 2032," he said.
