Four more locations have been added to the list of COVID-19 exposure sites in Margaret River by the WA Health Department, following the addition of Settlers Tavern on Sunday.
The sites are:
- Margaret River Visitor Centre - Thursday 13/01/2022 at 1:45pm - 2:15pm
- Riverfresh IGA Margaret River - Thursday 13/01/2022 at 1:30pm - 2:00pm
- Coles Margaret River - Thursday 13/01/2022 at 1:15pm - 1:45pm
- Settlers Tavern Margaret River - Thursday 13/01/2022 at 12:30pm to 1:30pm
- Mammoth Cave - Thursday 13/01/2022 at 2:00pm - 3:00pm
People who visited the Visitor Centre, Mammoth Cave, IGA and Coles should monitor for symptoms unless directly advised otherwise by the Department of Health. If symptoms develop, get tested and isolate.
People who visited the tavern on Thursday January 13 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm are urged to get tested immediately, and to isolate until they receive a negative test result, unless directly advised otherwise by the Department of Health.
The advice was issued on Sunday January 16 and joins the list of three other locations south of Busselton identified as potential exposure sites associated with Delta cases, known as the 'backpacker cluster'.
Cowaramup BP Service Station, the Gracetown Beach Car Park and Honeycombs Beach Car Park were all earmarked in late December as potential exposure locations, with people asked to monitor for symptoms and to get tested and isolate if symptoms develop.
Local businesses in Margaret River's town centre made moves to implement their own mask rules in light of the latest exposure news.
"We would appreciate it if starting Monday 8am 17th of Jan, everyone entering Priceline Pharmacy can wear a mask," wrote Priceline Margaret River's Karen Cheah on Sunday.
"It will help protect others, and more importantly, the crew who are here to be of service to you and this community."
Margaret River Liquor Merchants manager Mark Wong said the store's recent strict mask rule would be put back in place in light of the resumption of the mask mandate for Perth and Peel residents.
"Please be advised that as of opening of trade tomorrow until further notice, masks will now be mandatory in Margaret River Liquor Merchants for all staff and all patrons," he said.
"As per the last mandate, if you do not have a mask, we will supply them.
"If you display any symptoms or have visited any exposure sites, please get tested and isolate."
Mr Wong said as a venue licensed to sell alcohol, the store was able to bring in its own dress code requirement, in this case a mask.
"Even if you have a medical exemption from wearing a mask and refuse to wear a mask in our store, please be advised you will be breaking our dress code policy and be asked to leave."
