THOSE who say they don’t have a creative bone in their body will not be left out at next month’s Emergence Creative Festival.
Chair of the Margaret River event Mat Lewis has planned something for everyone with the core theme being collaboration.
The opening night, to be known as Enlightenment, will be held at Leeuwin Estate winery on March 8 and will present a spectacle of light projections and live drumming outdoors.
Guests are encouraged to bring a torch or iPhone as well as a drum if they have one, to get involved in the action no matter their take on creativity.
“I’m envisioning everyone gets a drum…we’ll set up a massive drumming circle,” Mr Lewis said.
Meanwhile Kachina DJs will mix up their own beats to provide music for the night’s live art installation.
In its third year, the four-day Emergence Creative is set to make an impression with a larger scale and more locations than before.
“There’s more events and the element of live creation throughout,” Mr Lewis said.
Between the six guest artists from Perth and four South West creatives that make up the collaborators, festival goers will meet illustrators, designers, visual art - ists, musicians, photographers, film directors and a self-titled up-cycle enthusiast.
“This is all about promoting locals but also bringing in the best,” Mr Lewis said.
“The more collaboration and more people, the bigger and more elaborate the images will be.”
On top of the live collaborations will be guest speakers such as Lee Hunter of Google Creative Partner - ships, actor and director Myles Pollard and Jim Ingram and Ben Couzens, the creative duo behind some of the biggest and most awarded advertising ideas in the world.
The idea of the festival is for people to immerse themselves in creative thinking with keynote speeches, informative panels, inter active masterclasses, pitching wor k shops and out-of-the-ordinary experiences all tied together with social networking events.
Opening night will kick off at 6.30pm, entry is $25 per person, or free for children ‘under four foot three’. Tickets are available at emergencecreative.com
