A pod of up to 100 dolphins have been spotted surfing, jumping and playing in the waves at Esperance beaches.
About 10.45 today a Facebook user posted "Huge pod of dolphins at observatory point. At least 100 plus never seen any thing like it" on the Whale and Dolphin Sightings - Esperance Facebook page, prompting members of the public to head to the lookout and get a glimpse.
The dolphins were seen close to the shore, frolicking in the waves, jumping out of the water and surfing the waves for about an hour before heading to Observatory Beach and then on to Nine Mile Beach.
By the time the pod of dolphins had reached Observatory Beach the pod seemed to have broken into smaller groups. When they reached Nine Mile Beach a pod of about 20 dolphins were surfing the waves and jumping about.
Members of the public had stopped to take photographs and watch the dolphins put on the show.
