COUNTRY WEEK: Bunbury and the South West made a strong showing at the 2015 Senior High Schools Country Week held in Perth last week.
Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School and Bunbury Senior High School tied for second in division one schools, falling just 12 points short of Albany Senior High School.
Busselton Senior High School finished in the top three for division two coming third with 321 points while Margaret River Senior High School scored 152 points to finish third in division three.
In the boys’ football, Newton Moore Senior High School took out division one honours with a thrilling one-point victory over BCGS, while Australind Senior High School won the division three grand final.
ASHS also claimed a win in the girls’ football beating BCGS 3.5.23 to 1.1.7.
In the boys’ basketball, ASHS claimed the division one grand final beating Albany, while BCGS finished third winning their playoff against Busselton.
In the girls’, Newton Moore toppled Bunbury Senior High School to finish third in division one while BCGS finished fourth in division two.
BCGS came third in division one boys’ hockey beating Bunbury Senior High School in their playoff game while Newton Moore came second in division two beating Geraldton 4 – 1.
In the girls’ hockey, Bunbury Senior High School won the division one grand final against BCGS 2 – 1, while Collie defeated Esperance 3 – 0 in division two.
In the netball, BCGS claimed a handsome win in division one, belting Albany 40 – 24, while Manea College toppled ASHS 31 – 25 to finish fifth.
Dalyellup College finished third in division three after tying 31 – 31 in their playoff game against Karratha Senior High School.
In the boys’ soccer, BCGS fought out a 1 – 0 win over Albany to claim top honours in division one, while Bunbury Senior High School came third with a win over Katanning.
In girls’ soccer, Bunbury Senior High School came second after a one-all draw with Albany in the final, while Australind beat Great Southern Grammar to finish third.
Manea dominated Halls Head 5 – 0 to finish first in B division.
In the touch rugby, Bunbury Senior High School finished fourth in division two while Manea was just behind in fifth.
Boys’ volleyball saw BCGS finish second in division one after losing their grand final to Albany, while Bunbury Senior High School finished fourth.
Bunbury Senior High School finished third in the girls’ volleyball for division one, while Newton Moore ran a close fourth.
