THIRTY-five year 10 and 11 students and three teachers from Margaret River Senior High School travelled to Sydney and Canberra last week for the school's annual National Capital Visit program. Co-ordinator Martin Keen put together a jam-packed program including visits to the Opera House, Taronga Zoo, the PowerHouse Museum and the Aquarium in Sydney; Parliament House - both old and new - the Australian War Memorial and National Art Gallery, with Cockington Green and Questacom adding fun to the official visits of the trip. Highlights of the trip this year included all students along with Mr Keen and fellow supervising teacher, Taylor Hughes, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a fantastic challenge that kept all participants buzzing for hours afterwards.
The students were complimented on their behaviour and manners at all venues.
From the students’ point of view the excursion journals filled with comments like “fantastic”; “highlight of our time at school”; and “unbelievable experience, not to be missed”.
For the teachers it was opportunity to spend some quality time with “a great group of students”. The school thanks the Federal Government whose assistance with the financing of this excursion through the PACER program helped make the trip possible.
