BORDER residents should be able to rest easier, thanks to the opening of an Albury franchise of The Quilt and Pillow Factory. The store offers feather and down bedding products and can also restore and clean existing bedding. Owner Jenny Hammat-Kerr said the company offered “an innovative rejuvenation process for feather and down products”. “We also assemble new down products in a retail production environment,” she said. She said the rejuvenation process, whereby items are steam-cleaned by a large machine at 115 degrees, could add to the life of a pillow or quilt and also increase hygiene. The process includes the laundering of the quilt cover and the topping-up of any filling. “While quilt cleaning and rejuvenation is our core business, we also market a stunning range of superb quality manchester and adventure wear,” she said. Ms Hammat-Kerr said cleaning of quilts and pillows was vital after every two to three years. She said they could be a cause of asthma and allergies. “The ‘clumped together’ feeling that a quilt can give you is a scientifically proven breeding ground for house dust mites,” she said. The manchester range includes pillows, quilts, towels, mattress protectors and more including specially made to order quilts and pillows.
