THE hunger for finals glory was evident when the Harvey Bulls paid Augusta Margaret River a visit on their home turf, steam rolling the Hawks with a 53 point win in Round 17.
The first quarter proved the Bulls meant business, coming out of their pen with a strong man to man defensive play which proved too much for the Hawks this Sunday.
Augusta Margaret River fell just behind the Bulls at quarter time, 2.2.14 to Harvey's 3.2.20.
They were behind, but they were not yet out with quick play from the back line in the form of Ben Gerrans and strong feeds from Mitch Fairclough giving hope to the tested team.
Come the second quarter, the Bulls showed no signs of slowing down, ending the first half with a 20 point lead, 6.5.41 to 3.3.21.
The downward spiral for the Hawks progressed in the third quarter where the ball remained steadily in the Bulls possession, their persistence beating down any attempt the Hawks made for goal.
By now the Hawk's home had been converted into the bull ring, Harvey increasing their lead by 37 points, 10.6.66 to the Hawks' 4.5.29.
All hope was plucked from the Hawks in the final quarter where the Bulls sealed the deal with an extra four goals, ending the game with 14.8.92 to the Hawks' 5.9.39.
The path to the finals is now wide open now, Harvey's hungry playing indicating the trophy could be taken out by anyone at this stage.
