Motivation for a fun run would usually entail a fitness boost and pictures for Instagram likes, but for one Perth family it's something far more important.
Ryan Ridley is gearing up for the Swan River Run to help raise funds for his five year old daughter, who has hypotonic cerebral palsy.
"Her muscles aren't coordinated as the rest of us and they lack the ability to actually carry around her normal duties," said Mr Ridley.
"She finds pretty much every task of her life very hard, she has only been able to walk in the last eight to 10 months."
The Ridley family have been raising funds for Chloe to go to Neurological And Physical Rehabilitation Therapy Centre [NAPA] in Sydney.
"She does have therapy weekly, but the actual intensity that they are able to do at NAPA for four hours a day for three weeks is the only place in Australia where they can do that."
"She's doing really well because in June we went to NAPA for the first time and she's done excellent work over there."
NAPA was brought over from Los Angeles to Sydney as there was a number of Australians who had made their way over to America for treatment.
Mr Ridley said Chloe was a different girl after spending all of June at the Centre.
"She's not quite talking, she does communicate with her emotions," he said.
"She can now climb stairs with minimal assistance with just holding onto the rail.
"Ideally what we would like is for Chloe to communicate and to talk with us a lot more."
One trip costs around $20,000, which has been the main motivation for the family to raise funds through events such as the Swan River Run.
The goal is to reach $60,000 which would help the Ridley's send Chloe to NAPA at least three times for further treatment.
Mr Ridley's campaign has boosted his fitness with his sights set on the 14 kilometre leg by using Chloe's progress as his own motivation.
"When I first started training to run I was lucky if I could run half a kilometre, so I took inspiration from Chloe, she never gave up."
A Go-fund me page to help send Chloe to NAPA has so far raised just over $20,000.
The WAtoday Swan River Run presented by Westpac will take place in Perth's most picturesque course on July 24.
