Margaret River – The Captain’s Trophy was played last Tuesday sponsored by Captain Bob Williams. Colin Andrews came first with a score of 20 points, Ian Colmer second with one point less and Mike Lawson just got third place after a multiple count back with 18.
The ladies played their first Stroke Putting round and Rosie Burnett scored best (74), just one better then Maggi Foy. Kath Solonec just got the better of Rhonda Hearn and Jackie Dickson on a count back, all on 76.
The Smartline Scroungers Men’s Stableford was won by young gun Nicky Liebenberg, playing off a handicap of 1.3. Veteran Terry Halsall came second, just scoring one point less (38) and Jim Triglone in third (37).
Richard Deshon beat Jo Pyatt on a count back for first place in Friday’s mixed, while Matt O’Farrell settled for third.
Brenden Powell (40) was best at the Home Timber and Hardware stableford on Saturday, three points ahead of second placed Andrew Host and third Bill Pascoe. First prize in the Elders mixed 18 hole stableford went to visitor Jenny Nicol (39). Allan Miller just beat Terry Haywood on a count back, both scoring 37 points. – Joe Setter

Augusta – Saturday saw the men battle it out in a stroke game for the Margaret River Retravision trophies.
Les Castle found some good form to hold off a determined Brian Neal who was relegated to runner up spot after a count back, both with net 69. Third went to Eric James who carded a respectable 71. Kim Darragh took out two nearest the pins with Les Castle and Geoff Mathews sharing the others.
Sunday was a perfect day for the Blackwood River Houseboats Mixed Ambrose, where a good field of teams competed for a weekend cruising the Blackwood.
Brian Bowden and Jim and Shirley Swarbrick took the course apart to record a magnificent 66 including 5 birdies out the back giving them a net 54 & 5/6 to take the major prize. Their closest challengers Trish Howells, Brian Neal and Eric James with their net 62 & 2/3 took second after a count back from Ann Williams and Joyce and Graeme Challis.
Nearest the pins went to the in-form Les Castle who took out two, Shirley Swarbrick, Brian Neal and Jim Swarbrick.
Coming up this weekend is the Easter Cup, sponsored by Ian Mumme and held over Saturday and Sunday. The individual men’s and ladies stableford competition offers prizes on both days before combined scores decide the Easter Cup winner. – Nick Dornan
