Organisers of the upcoming Margi Gras Festival are offering the chance to win a prize pack including accommodation, local wine and the chance to perform at Margi Gras 2019.
The inaugural festival, which will be held on the Margaret River Cultural Centre Lawns, will feature a troupe of five performers from Perth Drag Queens. Scarlet Adams, Veronica Jean Jones, Katya Kokov, Perri Oxide and Donna Kebab will deliver a family-friendly performance of songs, dance and comedy.
The Queen of Margi Gras competition is open to all genders, with participants encouraged to don their most over-the-top outfit with drag hair and make up to match for the chance to collect the crown.
Margi Gras founder Rebecca Hannan said the competition welcomed everyone, from performers to people feeling the dress-up vibes.
The Queen of Margi Gras is just a bit of fun - whether you're an up and coming drag queen, a professional or just someone who wants to give it a go for a laugh, everyone's encouraged to enter.

"The Queen of Margi Gras competition is just a bit of fun - whether you're an up and coming drag queen, a professional or just someone who wants to give it a go for a laugh, everyone's encouraged to enter,” she said.
“It is open to anyone over 18 years old - men, women, trans, it doesn't matter. Margi Gras is inclusive and so is this competition."
Entrants in the competition will be required to take part in a catwalk parade onstage at the Margi Gras After Party at the River Hotel, where an MC will fire off some questions to competitors.
“Queens will be judged on overall look, dress, make up, hair, attention to detail, attitude and character,” Ms Hannan said. “In other words, if you walk the walk, then talk the talk!”
The Queen of Margi Gras will collect a locally designed handmade tiara by Bree Stewart Costume Designs, as well as a two-night stay at Chalet on Percheron and wine courtesy of Settlers Liquor. The winner will also have the opportunity to perform at Margi Gras 2019.
Registration for the Queen of Margi Gras is open February 1 to February 8. Register and find out more about the festival at margigras.com.au
