More than 100 members of the Kimberley Karavan Owners Club descended upon the region last week, the large group of nomads parked up at the Big Valley Campsite on Rosa Brook Road as part of their annual general meeting and catch up tour.
Among the group’s activities was an auction to raise money for the Margaret River Fire and Rescue Service, with donations coming from many locally based businesses to raise more than $5,000 for the cause.
The travellers also enjoyed a long table lunch with the Margaret River Southern Tafe commercial cookery students at their Gather & Feast event after seeing the collaborative lunch program featured on ABC’s Landline.
Regular Gather and Feast supporter Ian Parmenter was at the event and said the group’s organisers had commended the students on their quality service.
“Many commented that the luncheon was magnificent, with many from the Eastern States saying they were planning to return to the region for a longer stay further down the track.”
