The next group of Margaret River SHS ‘Alternate Leavers’ will head to Dili next month as part of the annual Margaret River Rotary Timor Leste tour, where selected students join efforts to support remote village communities.
As a way of saying thank you to the Margaret River Lions Club for their generous donation and support towards the trip, students began volunteering at the Lions’ bi-weekly shed sale in August.
The Lions’ Grant Hewett said help from the students was gladly received, as will their ongoing assistance with all 16 teens rostered on to help at the sale at least twice each before their departure.
“The young people worked really well and deserve a pat on the back for their willing efforts,” said Mr Hewett.
A sausage sizzle held late last month at Margaret River Home Timber & Hardware raised vital funds to enable the purchase of much needed medical goods and school equipment to be taken to Timorese communites during the two week tour, which begins on November 18.
