Margaret River
The Lions Club of Margaret River has found a new home for its 2019 Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony Celebrations at the newly redeveloped Margaret River Youth Precinct.
The morning will kick off with a big community barbecue breakfast served by Lions volunteers from 8am followed by the official Citizenship Ceremony at 9:30am where eleven new citizens will be welcomed by Shire President Pam Townshend.The move from Gloucester Park to the Youth Precinct is warmly welcomed by the Margaret River Lions Club, who donated over $40,000 towards the completion of the Youth Precinct Project.
The volunteer run ‘Wash Against Waste’ trailer will be there to support the event and Soggybones Café will be open from 8am.
Margaret River Lions Club President Dorothy Yeoman said preparations for the event are going well.
“We encourage the community to come down and take part in the morning’s festivities,” she said.
The Margaret River event is alcohol and smoke free and people have been urged to leave their pets at home.
“The Lions Club kindly request that skaters respectfully refrain from shredding during the official ceremonial event!”
Cowaramup
The Cowaramup Lions Club breakfast will be held in Pioneer Park from 8am with a gold coin donation.
Along with citizenship ceremonies, the event will see the presentation of the 2019 Col Duggan Award and the Cowaramup Young Achiever Award.
Augusta
Celebrate with the Augusta community at the Augusta CRC on Allnutt Terrace from 8.30am.
Deputy Shire President Julia Meldrum and Augusta CRC Chairman Dean McFaull will preside, with appearances from the Augusta Primary School and Augusta Singers, and Australia Day ambassador Barry House.
A light breakfast will follow formalities.
