The annual Blackwood Regatta competition is on again this year as part of the Augusta River Festival, happening Sunday March 3 on the banks of the Blackwood River.
Competitors are invited to create their finest water craft using aluminum cans, milk cartons and plastic bottles to race for the Perpetual Trophy and cash prizes in front of the festival crowds.
This year, the Open Class prize will offer a $1000 reward for the winning craft, while the Youth Class (under 15s) will receive a $500 first place prize. A prize will also be offered for the most creative and unique craft on the water.
The Augusta River Festival is on Sunday March 3. Entry is $5 for the all day event, which features live music and entertainment for the whole family, over 70 market stalls, food, drinks, and fireworks to end the day. The event is smoke free, with no BYO, bicycles, dogs, scooters or skateboards permitted.
