Coming to Cowaramup tomorrow is something special organised by the team at University of the 3rd Age Margaret River chapter.
British writer, broadcaster and historian Andrew Green will explain how the iconic piece of music, The Lark Ascending, was composed against the backdrop of a long agricultural depression in Britain that had decimated rural communities, crafts and customs.
Is Vaughan Williams’ lark singing an elegy for a lost world never to return?
Join the discussion and have your say at this talk, lavishly illustrated with photographs and paintings of the day.
The event is the first of several proposed by the University of the 3rd Age for each month of this coming year.
The general public is welcome to attend any one, or all, of the U3A monthly events.
“The Lark Ascending .. and descending” will be held in the Duggan Pavilion, Hall Road, Cowaramup, on Thursday 21 st February at 2.00pm.
Entry is by gold coin donation or if you are a U3A member, entry is free.
