A pilot program held for the first time at Margaret River Senior High School this year has resulted in a stunning exhibition of photographs portraying local students finding their own 'inner warrior'.
Margaret River Senior High School YouthCARE School Chaplain Kathryn Seisun said the Warrior Woman Project aimed to encourage young women to recognise and champion their own strengths and values, as individuals, as well as members of a supportive female community.
"Facilitator of The Warrior Woman Project, Kendra Benson is a professional photographer of 12 years and is passionate about empowering young women to identify their personal 'Warrior Code' - an exploration of positive characteristics and traits that define who they are as individuals.
"Kendra worked in partnership with the Sisterhood@MRSHS team to deliver this innovative, interactive program for our upper schoolgirls.
"The aim of The Warrior Woman Project was to inspire in our girls their own "Warrior Code" through the interactive learning journey of historical warrior women and the changing role of women throughout history and different cultures.

"The program then culminated In a creative photo shoot where each student created her own "inner warrior".
The Warrior Woman Project exhibition was launched at JahRoc Galleries in Margaret River last week, and will now move to the HEART gallery where the works will be displayed alongside the Margaret River SHS Creating Identities annual art exhibition.
