Coordinators of the 2020 Augusta River Festival will hold a special fundraising event on Sunday January 26, featuring live music and delicious local food.
Kicking off at the Augusta Hotel from 4.30pm on Australia Day, the event will aim to raise funds for the annual festival, with an expanded program and an extra stage in the youth zone set to feature some of the region's best young musical acts and performers in March.
The Australia Day fundraiser will see the South West's finest shanty singing group, The Anchormen, take to the stage, numbering some 20 voices and demonstrating the thrill and power of traditional shanties.
Margaret River's Crooked Brook will also perform, playing classic Irish folk music, raucous Pogues songs, and the occasional crooning ballad. Complete with mandolin, bodrhan, guitar and vocal harmonies, they also throw in some folk music from America and Europe.
As well as the regular food available from the Augusta Hotel kitchen, the region's Smokin' Bull BBQ and Claudio Biscotti will also be there with lunch and dinner options for all ages and tastes.
Tickets to the Augusta River Festival Fundraiser are $20 (kids 5-12 $5) and can be purchased online at www.events.humanitix.com.au/augusta-river-festival-2020-fundraiser
