The Leeuwin League ladies pennant final was hosted recently by Augusta who faced off against Dunsborough White.
This league's format is different from other pennants due to inadequate club numbers.
However, most players regard the new format of two games of pairs and one of fours as superior to other competitions.
Dunsborough's team of Maureen Hines, Janice Hoover, Sharon Sharpe and Jem Coupar knew they had to win the two pairs and get three maximum points straight up.
Augusta has a mean team when it comes to fours with Dee Harris, Mem Evans, Wendy Wilson and Jane Kelly so Dunsborough needed to put them under the pump immediately.
Pressure was put on Augusta when Dunsborough won two thrilling pairs and went into the fours sitting on three points. But then Augusta came to life.
No matter what Dunsborough put into the head, Augusta moved out with all team members contributing.
Three points apiece and down to a sudden death one end play-off. Augusta was holding two shots at the change for skips to play.
Hines sent down a magnificent bowl which gently nudged out the shot bowl and sat centimetres from the jack.
Harris, with an equally magnificent bowl put down the winner and moved the shot bowl out by only a centimetre.
This was a true final game with great play, ultimately it was Augusta winning 4-3.
