Margaret River's growing street hockey scene received a boost over the weekend with solid play and victory over one of the State's best teams.
The team, dubbed Margies Smash Bandicoots, travelled to Perth to take part in the inline hockey tournament.
Club President and team captain Ed Thomas said the team's first game at the SpeedDome in Midvale saw them face Perth Velocity.
"We drew that game 3-3, before our second game against Dunsborough, who are state champions, where we won 7-4."
Headed up by Thomas and coach John Bowskill, the team managed to overcome Bunbury in their third game with a score of 5-4.
Coming into the last game of the tournament, we were playing Perth Whites with whom we were in joint position for the tournament leader board.

"Coming into the last game of the tournament, we were playing Perth Whites with whom we were in joint position for the tournament leader board.
"Unfortunately in the final minutes we conceded a goal to put us 4-5 down and ended up placing second for the tournament."
The Margaret River club was established around three years ago, and Thomas said they enjoyed regular games against South West teams as well as their Perth-based counterparts.
"We welcome new members of any skill level, and have spare equipment to lend to anyone wanting to start," he said.
Adult training is held on Mondays, with kids training on Fridays at the Margaret River Recreation Centre.
