The Margaret River Hawks Cricket Club has formed its first ever junior girls cricket team, and the excited young players are urging other girls to sign up.
"They need at least three more players, and are putting a call out for team mates looking to have fun, develop their skills in a supportive environment, with super coaches and the legendary Hawks club," said Marie-Louise Barnes.
The girls recently signed a commemorative bat that will take pride of place in the Hawks clubrooms, and were excited to meet Club President Al Wilkie to talk about their new team.
The Hawks said they were "stoked" to unveil the new team and encouraged other young players to consider joining.
"Thank you to coach Brad Kelly, and Elle Weston for making this happen," the club said this week.
"The longest journey starts with a footstep, and we have just taken a very large step towards a strong future for the club in female cricket.
"Hopefully these girls will continue to enjoy their cricket for a long time to come, but regardless of that they will now always be part of this club's great history."
The team is seeking new players aged 10 to 14 years.
