MARGARET River musicians, Tom Godden, 25 and Henry Clark, 24 have made history by being the members of the first band to play the new $550 million Perth Arena on Saturday night.
Stillwater Giants won the privilege of being the first band to open Plug into Perth at the Perth Arena after beating more than 300 other performers in a competition held in Perth recently.
Godden and Clark both studied music at Margaret River High School with Clark topping the State by winning the Year 12 TEE Exhibition Award for Classical Guitar.
Godden’s father and high school music teacher, Bruce Godden said the band played their signature style of music - Indi-surf to an 8000 strong crowd at the state-of-the art entertainment centre.
“The Perth Arena is a magnificent venue with huge video screens projecting what’s going on onstage. We are so proud of the boys – it was amazing seeing them up there,” he said.
Clark is Stillwater Giants lead vocal and rhythm, while Godden plays lead guitar and is a backing vocalist.
Elton John will play at the Perth Arena next week.
