Thanks to the support of Lotterywest and the local community, Margaret River Community Centre will again be providing food hampers and children's gifts this Christmas for people and families experiencing financial and food insecurity.
"Thanks to Boomie Bags sewing group, we have 120 Boomerang Bags sewn and ready to fill," said Leanne Sutton from the Community Centre.
"We purchase staples with Lotterywest funds and call on the community to donate non- perishable goods to supplement this.
"The generosity of the Margaret River community shows itself through the extensive range of donations from businesses, organisations and individuals, that have been distributed through the Community Centre at Christmas time for more than 20 years."
Each year, volunteers pack the hampers and last year children created cards with a Christmas wish for each recipient.
"It certainly takes away a little bit of stress and brings some connection and warmth to the festive table of many locals."
Donations of non-perishables and new toys can be added to the collection box in Riverfresh IGA or brought directly to the office at the Community Centre between 9am and 1pm until Tuesday 21 December.
Margaret River Community Centre's Hamper Day will be on Wednesday 22 December.
If you, or someone you know, would like to register to receive a hamper, please call the office on 9757 3200 or visit the office between 9am and 1pm Monday to Friday.
