STAGE two of Margaret River's Perimeter Road project will be helped along by a $60 million grant announced by the Nationals WA party on the weekend.
Warren-Blackwood MLA Terry Redman announced the grant at the Nationals WA state convention in Margaret River on Saturday and said without the second-stage funding, the project would be "a road to nowhere".
"We have answered the call from the people of Margaret River to get the trucks off the main road," Mr Redman said.
Stage one of the project is expected to start in November with a cost of about $13 million to complete the seven-kilometre section.
Stage one will take about 16 weeks to finish and, now that funding is available, stage two can begin immediately after.
