THE weather was a bit wild and windy, but it didn’t stop people from flocking to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse on Saturday for Illuminate, an event which turned the lighthouse purple and yellow as a fundraiser for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. People enjoyed an afternoon of music and entertainment, including treasure hunts, a bouncy castle, sausage sizzle, and entertainer Johnno B Biscuit’s antics.

The Augusta Margaret River and Geographe Bay Tourism Associations joined forces so Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste Lighthouses were both involved in the fundraiser for sick children at Princess Margaret Hospital, raising more than $2000.
Dressed in costume, Annette Bumbak told ghost stories of Elizabeth the lighthouse cottage ghost, who has been known to wake neighbour and lighthouse manager Paul Sofilas in the night with lights and music. On another occasion, Paul’s friends were scared when a gameboy switched on by itself.
