The town of Cowaramup cemented its ‘legen-dairy’ status over the weekend with a huge celebration of all things ‘Cowie’ at this year’s Deja Moo Festival.
The winter weather took a break for the day as crowds filled the town’s oval and community buildings to sample some of the best food, handicrafts, art and entertainment the region has to offer.
As always, attendees and volunteers were decked out in their best cow onesies, and took part in bootscooting lessons, fire fighting demonstrations, laser tag games and lots of other country-town fun.
Event spokesperson Jill Turton said the turnout was a great result after last year’s event battled inclement weather.
“We hope to make a fantastic impression on the Legendairy Australia judges, who are here today to see what Cowaramup is all about,” she said.
“It’s just amazing to see everyone out celebrating this part of the world and all the wonderful people we have in our community who work hard to make this festival happen every year.”
The town was named the WA winner of the Dairy Australia 2017 Legendairy competition in June, with the national winner to be announced in September.
