Drivers and members of the Trade Hire Augusta Margaret River Speedway are preparing for the upcoming running of the Ray Finlan Memorial and the Formula 500 State Titles on the March long weekend.
The memorial event will be held to honour long time contributor to the speedway club Ray Finlan, who passed away suddenly two years ago.
"He was a massive part of our club for more than a decade," explained a club spokesperson.
"Ray was a major part of the production sedan division's growth over the years and did a hell of a lot around the club and on the ground.
"He was one of the main men who organised all the concreting work for the back straight walk when it was moved around 10-15 years ago and he and Darrin Roots, who also used to race, did all the form work and poured concrete for around two weeks in their own time."
The Ray Finlan memorial title is awarded to the racer with the highest points, and earns the honour of the #12 memorial roof plate for the year - recognising Finlan's racing number 12.
The 62nd WA Annual Formula 500s will also be held over the same weekend, and AMR Speedway Club president Clint Hadley said he was proud and excited for Margaret River to be hosting the event.

"This is the first time Margaret River has hosted a Formula 500 title," said Mr Hadley.
The Junior Formula 500s will also be racing, featuring local driver Declan Minchin.

Mr Hadley said the success of drivers across a wide range of ages showed the family friendly environment was still going strong at the community club.
"We are a really family focused club, and we have an awesome group of passionate volunteers who help keep the club running month after month," he said.
Two nights of racing will take place at the Speedway, located on Sandpit Drive, just off Wallcliffe Road in Margaret River.
Action will include the Formula 500s and Junior Formula 500s as well as production sedans, street stocks and junior sedan divisions.
Racing begins at 5pm on Saturday March 2 and Sunday March 3, with full bar and canteen facilities available.
