Cowaramup BMX Track will be closed this month to allow for track redesign and upgrades.
The track upgrade will occur within the existing BMX track footprint and include additional roller style jumps, and more technical elements to keep the interest of older skilled participants, while also catering for all age groups and lower experience levels.
The track will remain a public track shared by Cowaramup BMX members, the wider community, school groups, tourists and visitors to region.
"Cowaramup BMX Club believe that this is a much needed project and has been a long vision for the future development of the BMX Club to ensure continued memberships, to increase longevity of the existing facility for all users, to encourage physical activity, and to upskill existing riders beyond what the track can currently offer," said BMX Committee Member Nicole Lincoln.
Cowaramup BMX Committee members are managing the track upgrade and have spent over 18 months fundraising to match the AMR Shire and State Government (Dept. Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries) financial contributions towards the project.
"The project is a collaborative approach between the Cowaramup BMX Club, Augusta Margaret River Shire, Department LGSC and local professional and skilled businesses.
"Dirtz Design have provided the project concept design and will help provide management of works on ground.
"Dirtz Design are a BMX Australia-approved BMX design company.
"This project is also supported by BMX WA and they will carry out the final track inspection, in partnership with the shire."
Cowara Contractors will complete the earthworks and upgrade of the track upgrade.
"Cowaramup BMX club is hoping for an exciting 2019/2020 racing season!"
