The Pink Up Our Region campaign has received a special boost this week as lights around Margaret River's main street were installed to promote the event.
According to campaign spokesperson Pauline McLeod, local businesses have thrown their support behind the project.
"Main Street businesses, with the generous support of the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association, Rotary Margaret River, Margaret River Lions Club and our Shire have been rallying over the last two weeks and digging deep to raise funds to Pink Up the main street trees in August for Pink Up Our Region campaign."
The campaign is designed to help raise funds to support cancer patients and to highlight future main street initiatives and celebratory events, and to counteract the impact of the forthcoming main street upgrades.
Wilderness Electrics' Ian Rooke is 'charged' with the challenge of turning the Margaret River Main Street trees a rosy shade of pink.
There are 16 lights in total that could be shining pink and we would love to see those final lights installed soon.

Rooke was on Bussell Highway as the sun went down on Monday, testing the first round of lights.
"There are enough funds raised to light up 12 trees," explained Mrs McLeod. "There are 16 lights in total that could be shining pink and we would love to see those final lights installed soon.
"The working party is still out there campaigning to collect the additional funds to light the remaining four, and no amount is too big or too small, every cent will help."
More than 50 accommodation providers have donated over 500 nights in accommodation to couples and families affected by cancer and will be hosting them during the month of August as part of the Pink Up Our Region campaign.
Margaret River businesses will compete in a window decorating competition to further spread the pink message.
"The town will turn pink to not only make the visitors feel welcome but to show unity to those in our local community fighting cancer," said Mrs McLeod.
Events will be held throughout the region including the Pink Ball at the Beer Farm, the Pink Sundowner at Tanah Marah, Busselton Jetty Goes Pink, a Pink Walk, Pink Morning Tea at Margaret River Southern TAFE and more.
