A new brewery, Shelter Brewing Co, is officially under construction on the Busselton Foreshore opposite the jetty.
On Tuesday, the brewery's directors Zeb Packard-Hair and Jason Credaro along with the City of Busselton mayor Grant Henley turned the first sod to mark the occasion.
Shelter Brewing Co director Zeb Packard-Hair said it was exciting to get construction underway.
"Our first goal is to build a world-class venue in an iconic location on time and on budget and we expect doors to open in spring 2020," he said.

The brewery will feature corrugated Corten cladding on the external walls and roof designed to rust over time to form a protective layer and earthy appearance.
There will be a floor to ceiling glass external wall to showcase the main brewery, indoor trees in the restaurant area, a first floor multi-function room, an outdoor area for children to play and a beer garden with jetty views.

It will also include the use of solar power and other green energy sources during the build.
The architecture is centred around the working brewery which is open and forms part of the venue.
Shelter Brewing Co director and head brewer Jason Credaro said that the brewery would be family-friendly and provide an approachable and high-quality offering.
"Shelter Brewing Co will be a place for locals and visitors to get together over a good beer in a great venue with an incredible view," he said.
"We wanted to create a place and an experience that captures the essence of Busselton's relaxed beach side community and lifestyle."
Shelter Brewing Co is a joint venture between the Credaro brothers Jason, Matt, Chris and Mike and Packard-Hair brothers Zeb and Asher.
City of Busselton mayor Grant Henley said the development would add significant value to the foreshore experience for locals and tourists.
Mr Henley said a family restaurant with local produce was always a feature of the Busselton Foreshore Masterplan, which would create jobs and add vibrancy to the area.
